2024 Outdoor Sound System
Aware that Memorial Day speeches given at Granby Cemetery were difficult for many people to hear, Legion officers resolved to solve the problem. Collaborating with twenty-one households and the Lions Club, the Legion purchased a robust sound system. On December 7th, Legionnaires deployed four 1,000-watt speakers at two locations for lighting of the holiday trees. Everybody easily heard the comments by First Selectman Mark Fiorentino and Santa Claus, despite noise from nearby traffic.
The real trial-by-fire was on Memorial Day, May 26, 2025. The Cemetery Ceremony was attended by over 700 people. Everybody heard the comments from the lecturn! Four 1,000-Watt speakers were aimed in every direction so that the entire crowd could heard what was being said. The success was so overwhelming that we actually had people complement us on how good the sound was!
Post 182 hopes to add powerful sound support to future community and charitable events. Many people contributed to the sound system project, but 21 donors deserve special mention. Thank you, friends, for your generosity and support. You deserve the credit for our success!
